CALEA "Flagship Status". In 2011, the Charles County Sheriff's Office received a "perfect assessment" from the
prestigious accreditation organization.
Sheriff Rex W. Coffey was named "Democrat of the Year" by the Charles County Democratic Central Committee
in 2009. Sheriff Coffey is the first democratic Sheriff in Charles County in over 100 Years.
Sheriff Coffey is the first candidate for Sheriff to be endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police 3 TIMES.
Sheriff Coffey has put more officers on the street than ever before in Charles County.
Appointed the first women ever to the Executive Command Staff of the Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office has
the most diverse Executive Staff EVER.
Created the First Training and Special Operations Divisions.
Created the Cold Case Squad. With the advancements in DNA, this has been very successful.
Dramatically Increased the technology of the Sheriff's Office.
Implemented a Quality Assurance Program to always strive for perfection.
Implemented the "We Care" Teen Driving Program.
